Thanks for creating such a wonderful curriculum for our kids! We've only been at this homeschooling thing for a short time, but my children absolutely LIVE for the day we get to do our science work!
Of course you may use my comments. I truly love this program, and I feel very passionate about how great it is. I have showed it to all my homeschooling friends, and their kids. So far all of them have decided to purchase this as well. We are thinking of starting our own "Science Group" and doing some parts as a group to make it even more interesting. =]
I can honestly say, that I love this program. I am using the Pre-Chem
with my 8 year old, and Chemistry 1 with my 10 year old. They LOVE
it... really LOVE it. I love the lab manual, it really has them doing
the whole process of science, questioning things, trying things, then
getting to the conclusions... exploring in ways that science is
explored. It's exciting to see them get really happy when I say we are
going to do science today. And they don't mind the writing, which is
something they hate to do. My 16 dd, is in Chemistry in the PS. She comes home nearly every day
with questions, she doesn't understand something... In her first days
she was required to use index cards and write every element in the
periodic table, the name of it, the symbol, all the information. .. her
book did not have all the information about each element. So she was
planning to use the internet to look it up. I opened my ds Real
Science 4 kids Chemistry 1 and there it is, all perfect, and with more
details about the periodic table, her science book didn't explain why
some symbols are not the first letter(s) of the name of the element,
Real Science 4 kids does... she was so amazed, and said, NOW that
makes sense, why didn't they just say that... when she has questions,
she goes to his book, and this is not the Chemistry II book.
I know you won't be disappointed with these books...
"I was completely impressed with the samples of each KOG(from the blog entries) and am looking forward to purchasing them. I loved the subtle core focus on chemistry as it related to each of the KOGS subject matter
I am hoping that there are plans to create KOGS for each of the four disciplines (biology, physics, earth/space). The more I explore, the more impressed I am. I feel so thankful to have this material available for my children!"
"Thank you all for your answers. This has been helpful. As an aside, I wish this would have been around 10 years ago for my eldest. Also, this past year we didn't get very far through the Chemistry I book because of serious illnesses in our family (brother in law diagnosed, operated and treated for brain cancer 500 miles away from home) and taking care of my mom post-op. My youngest ds felt like he didn't do well on the science part of his Stanford tests. Well, I got results a few days ago and he was way above the charts! RS4K is a great way to teach science and I'm excited about kogs helping along the way."

I LOVE it! Yesterday I was feeling unsure about buying the Chem 1 with all the KOGS because of the cost. Seeing it all really helps because I can see so well how it all fits together.
I also have to ask, aren't you concerned about people just using it online instead of buying the books? Or is that part of the strategy? If someone is desperate enough to actually use it online, let them, but only those with the least financial means will be willing to do it?
We started with Chem 1 last year and loved it! ... I was amazed at the amount of material
my boys were able to master. I didn't know half this stuff after going
through high school chemistry.
It really neat how much this stuff comes up in daily living. I was
making pizza the other day, and we were able to observe how extra
kneading cross-links more polymer chains, resulting in a stiffer
dough. Acids, bases, polymers -- they're all a part of modern life.
What timing, I just placed my order for Chem 1 and all the KOGS. I felt MUCH better about putting down $200 after looking through all the resources with the new flip books, well some of the KOGS aren't up yet, but being able to see the two helped. I very much appreciated Dr. Keller's transparency.
Thanks!!
My husband went to our local homeschool conference and spent some time
at the RS4Kids table. He was thrilled with the curriculum and we just
got it in the mail...
I have found the RS4K program very easy to use and you might even find yourself getting excited as you read
along. The are so well written, thorough and yet easy to understand. Dr. Keller has done a wonderful job of covering complex material in a way that is accessible to younger students.
We love the program. We have been homeschooling for 2 years. It took a while for me to find your program but we are glad we did. I pulled my son out of public school when as a 5th grader, he was just at a 3rd grade level and the school was going to send him on to middle school. So half way through 5th grade, we pulled D. out, and after 2 years we are very close to grade level in all but reading. That too is improving. We currently are using all 3 of the Level 1 books and are really enjoying them. My son is a 7th grader with Learning Disabilities in reading, and he is flourishing with this program. We love the format and easy reading style. It allows him to learn and work independently without a lot of help. Thank you for producing these books and for making science understandable and teachable for the homeschooling families. Laurie, Charlotte, NC
